Why travel to Tambopata?

Tambopata national rainforest reserve and a province of Madre de Dios region, southeastern Peru. It harbors some of the most biodiversity rainforest in the country (and possibly the entire Amazon basin), huge protected areas, and is home to several thousand people. Remote place, wild, but still easily accessible, this contrasting combination has helped it to become one of the global hotspots for ecotourism.

Sandoval Lake is located inside the Tambopata National Reserve;it is an exceptional place to observe a diversity wildlife, like macaws, parrots, gazelles, common kingfisher, caimans, turtles, mammals and Giant Otters. Sandoval Lake is about 4.97 miles from Puerto Maldonado City, an hour approximately (including 15 minutes down river by boat).

Sandoval Lake is considered the most beautiful Amazon Lake, an advised destiny by different travel magazines. Five farmer’s families live around the Sandoval Lake, who offer host service to tourist in their houses.

DAY 1: Puerto Maldonado - Tambopata Amazon

Arrival at the airport or bus station and transfer to the office of Do Adventures representative for the final talk about our tour before leaving to our adventure. In case you have big luggage, we suggest re pack to store the not needed items and carry just enough for the trip. Land transfer (4X4) wheeled truck to our destination for about 2 hours to reach the banks of the Tambopata River, if by river it will take more than 6 hours (just information). In this place we will take a boat to the lodge "Monte Amazoníco - Tambopata." Welcome and Breakfast or lunch depending on the arrival time. In the afternoon we make an introductory walk into the rainforest where we will have the opportunity to see animals in their natural habitat as amphibians, mammals, reptiles and wonderful insects, among others.

DAY 2: Visito to Chuchu Clay lick in Tambopata - Trip to Madre de Dios River

We woke up early, at 4:30, to leave for the lick of the world's largest macaw clay lick the CHUNCHO, a journey of about 1:30 am, by boat, on the way we will have the incredible opportunity to see species such as capybara, which is the world's largest rodents, tapirs, and you can even see the most beautiful South American feline, jaguar, many of our clients are witnesses with photographic evidence of encounters with these beautiful mammals. After arrival to the macaw clay lick see hundreds of different species of parrots that come to eat clay adjacent to the river wall. We will accommodate us in our saddles to wait to begin one of the most beautiful natural sights of birds in the world. A parrots are followed by 3 species of macaws most colorful of America, reds and greens, blues and yellows more gather to eat clay needed in your daily diet and eliminate toxins. On a good day of activity you will see hundreds of these wonderful animals flying over you. An experience for life. After breakfast, our boat takes us to transport back to Puerto Maldonado and transfer to the port where we will take the boat for an hour until our lodge welcome with a refreshing fruit juice of our region . Accommodation is given. After lunch, we visit the "Monkey Island", located in front of our lodge across the Madre de Dios River where we find different species of monkeys living on the island those species are the brown capuchin, squirrel monkey and saddle back tamarin;and return to the Lodge. In the evening we will go for caiman search, white alligators are typically found on sand banks in the Madre de Dios River for which it will need to bring a flashlight. Also, we may see some capybara too, back to lodge, dinner and rest.

DAY 3: Visit to Sandoval Lake into Tambopata Jungle.

After breakfast walk 3 km. In the midst of the dense rain forest and headed to Lake Sandoval(piranha habitat) one of the largest in the Tambopata National Reserve and stroll in a rowing boat where we will appreciate many birds of different species (shansho cormorant jacanas, puma heron, buzzards, howler monkey, brown capuchin monkey, tamarins and sloths). Maybe we will meet with the family of giant river otters (almost two meters long) that is in danger of extinction, return to the lodge to enjoy a typical lunch. In the evening we will one more opportunity to walk where we can appreciate diversity of species of insects, amphibians, reptiles and other nocturnal animals. - Dinner and rest.

DAY 4: Madre de Dios River - Puerto Maldonado - Home.

At 5:30a.m. in the jungle Morning and a short walk to our canopy walk-way (optional), about 30 meters high, allowing us to appreciate nature from as high as possible, we will also have a panoramic view of the Madre de Dios river. From platforms observe different species of birds, including toucans, macaws, tanagers, orioles, for sure it will be a wonderful experience.


  • ENTRANCE TIKETS: In our treks, the entrance to the visited site is included.
  • BRIEFING: Two or one night before your expeditions, we are going to your hotel or you will come to our office for your briefing, it is an information session for the tril to be ready to 100% for the trek day.
  • PROFESSIONAL GUIDES: All our guides studied English and Tourism at the University, institutes, and have many months giving support to the trekkers before to start to work in this kind of adventures like a guide.
  • HOTEL:The activity include 3 nights in lodge. We include a basic touristic lodge (Double, Marital and Triple rooms).
  • FOOD & CHEFS: Many of our customers comments about the wonders of our chefs. The food is served family style, there will be plenty of options for everyone, and always food left over. If you are vegetarian, it is not problem for us, just tell us and you will have vegetarian food. Each day will consist of breakfast, lunch, happy hour with tea and snacks and dinner. Your last meal will be breakfast of the last day. Lunch the last day is not included.
  • TRANSPORTATION: All the transportations during the tour are included.
  • FIRST AID: Your safety is our number 1 concern. All our guides are trained to provide support in these causes. They all will have first aid kits and full oxygen bottle in case anything happens. We will get you off the trail as quickly and comfortably as possible, if needed and will make sure you get directly to a clinic for treatment. This is not something to worry about - but if something happens, we will be there for you.Note: before to do the trek or any type of adventure tour, we recommend you to visit your doctor and explain about the activity that will do, and please try to bring a small first aid bag each according to your conditions to stay peaceful.
